During 2019, the Ministry evaluated and updated the National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation (STI-EGY 2030), including all the request of all relevant ministries such as the Ministry of Health - Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Environment - Ministry of Irrigation - Ministry of Finance - Ministry of Civil Aviation, in additions have been included based on opinions, ideas and proposals that resulted from a number of events and brainstorming sessions between the various stakeholders in the country and in the presence of a group of professors and experts in various fields. The updating of STI-EGY 2030 take into account the non-repetition of programmes, also adding other new programmes that provide unconventional solutions to many of the challenges facing society.

In September 2015, the United Nations General Assembly decided to include the seventeen sustainable development goals (SDGs) within the sustainable development plan of the international organization until 2030, which combines to achieve sustainable development in various regions of the world, through the achievement of integrated social and economic development that deals with a number of major issues and topics. Egypt was not far from all of that, so the National Strategy for Sustainable Development (Egypt Vision 2030) was developed, which identified a number of goals to be achieved by 2030, and with regard to the scientific research sector, the following goals were set: Reviewing and developing laws and legislations related to enabling knowledge and innovation. Developing and restructuring the knowledge and innovation system. Adopting a comprehensive program to instiall a culture of innovation and knowledge in society. Develop a comprehensive program to motivate small and medium-sized companies to innovate. Activating the partnership between the state and the private sector in supporting and stimulating innovation.
